Best 2023 Resolutions for Elderly In-Home Care Clients

“Because when you make the choice to start putting your best foot forward, even in the small things, you will find that effort, in any quantity, is rewarded.”*

For elderly individuals, each new year serves as a time of reflection on physical and mental well-being. Home Care Associates is ready to help our in-home care clients address these areas of their lives in 2023 by continuing to provide exceptional care with our team of caregivers. So, let us make sure 2023 is your greatest year yet with a list of New Year’s resolutions to carry forward into your daily life.

Accept Help from Those Who Care

Elderly individuals often find it difficult to accept help due to fears of losing their independence or becoming a burden. And with these fears, it can be easy for them to overlook the numerous benefits of asking for the support they need when they are struggling. Accepting help with small tasks, such as having an in-home caregiver assist with running errands or organizing the home, can relieve the chaos of everyday life for seniors, creating a more peaceful environment.

Home Care Associates assists the elderly through four services: companionship, home helper, personal care, and cognitive care. Depending on a client’s specific needs, our caregivers can help with diet monitoring, bathing, dressing, sending mail, paying bills, and more. As we get older and learn to accept help from people who care for us, we reduce the stress in our lives. By bringing this mindset into 2023, your days can be filled with rest and relaxation that you haven’t experienced in years.

Get Stronger with Daily Exercises for Seniors

Symptoms of high-stress levels in seniors, according to Park View Health, are high blood pressure, diabetes, chest pain, loss of appetite, insomnia, or muscle pain/tension. The good news is one of the best stress relievers is exercise. The Home Care Associates team encourages our clients to do at least 30 minutes of exercise daily to reduce health problems. Light activities for seniors in the morning include walking, stretching, chair yoga, or water aerobics. And our caregivers at Home Care Associates are happy to assist with small workout sessions, so you’ll always have the help you need! You can maximize the results of your exercises by asking a loved one for a resistance band or inflatable ball. Our favorite resistance band set can be found using this link to Amazon.
